SAGINAW, Mich. — A local man remains hospitalized two days after being launched onto the roof of a Saginaw house he crashed his truck into.

About 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, Saginaw police and firefighters responded to 2818 Beechwood Ave. near the corner of Hess Avenue for a gray Chevrolet Silverado having struck a one-story house. They arrived to find the truck’s driver, a 28-year-old Bridgeport Township man, lying on the roof.

Three people were inside the house when the crash occurred but all avoided injury, police said.

The man was severely injured from having been ejected from his truck and was not responsive to police and firefighters. Meanwhile, a fire started under the truck’s hood and flames began billowing out from it.

As some firefighters battled the blaze, others scaled ladders to the roof and pulled the injured man to safety. Mobile Medical Response took the move to a local hospital, where he remains in stable but critical condition as of Monday morning.

Police could not say if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. They are asking anyone with information on the crash to call Officer Jeff Dehaan at 989-759-1439.
