Off-duty Wis. firefighter-medic struck while rendering aid at fatal vehicle crash

Mequon’s first full-time firefighter-paramedic, Josh Lipp, was seriously injured in the incident

WEST ALLIS, Wis. — Mequon Firefighter-Paramedic Josh Lipp was seriously injured while off duty Friday morning. He was struck by a vehicle after stopping to render aid at the scene of a previous crash, Fox6now reported.

At the time of the incident, Lipp was speaking with a woman who was one of the drivers involved in the original crash. She was also struck by the vehicle that hit Lipp, and died due to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that drove into the crash scene was arrested.

The Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin set up a charitable donation page for Lipp.

Lipp has served with the volunteer department since 2009 and is the first full-time firefighter-paramedic to be hired.
