ORLEANS, Mass. — The sun was already down on one of the shortest days of the year on Friday at 4:40 p.m. when a 911 call was received in Orleans, saying that a man at a local construction company was pinned under a large loader bucket.
Orleans police and Orleans fire-rescue arrived within five minutes, according to a post on Facebook.
Crews worked to stabilize the vehicle and give care to the trapped man, but the John Deere loader was leaking hydraulic oil, the post said.
Rescuers worked for 20 minutes, carefully lifting the bucket off of the man, starting IV fluids and giving pain medicine to him, as well as treating his injuries.
The man was transported by ambulance to the Nauset Regional Middle School field to meet with a Boston MedFlight helicopter. He was taken for transport to a Boston trauma center, the post read.
