UTICA, N.Y. — A woman was arrested after allegedly stealing an ambulance from a hospital and driving it into Irondequoit Bay.
After an ambulance was reported as stolen from a Utica hospital, a state trooper spotted the rig on the highway and began a multi-unit pursuit.
“It was like a parade,” Sgt. Michael Page said in an interview with CNYCentral.
Two attempts to stop the ambulance with stingers failed, Page said.
The woman exited the highway and took a road that dead-ended into the Irondequoit Bay – and kept going.
The woman was picked up by a yacht in the water, and she was taken into custody by police.
