JOHNSON COUNTY, N.C. — Johnson County paramedics are getting a 42% pay raise.
The board of commissioners approved of raises for paramedics and EMTs as part of an effort to keep their pay competitive with Wake County, WRAL reported.
The first two tiers of EMTs will get raises of more than 20%.
All the raises take effect this month, and the board plans to make them permanent.
“That means a lot to me,” said Lauryn Stillwell, a paramedic in Johnston County, who has a family to support.
