SHANGHAI — A Chinese man had to seek medical attention to get a 9-inch dildo removed from his intestines after it was lodged inside him for five days.
Using an endoscope to remove the sex toy, doctors said that had they waited much longer, the man would have gone into critical condition, according to the Agence France-Presse.
The object blocked the man’s large intestine and caused tissue damage.
Health officials said similar cases are on the rise as sexual attitudes in China become more liberal.
Dr. Yao Liqing, who helped to remove the dildo, warned consumers to use sex toys properly.
“People must use sex toys properly and avoid ones that are too big as they can hurt people,” Yao said.
There have been three similar cases so far this year.
