Fresno firefighters rescued a woman whose leg was impaled on a wrought iron fence after she ran from an ambulance

FRESNO, Calif. — A woman was impaled her leg on a wrought iron fence on Thursday after running from EMS crews in central Fresno.

EMS initially responded to a medical aid call just after noon, near Divisadero and Diamond streets.

Authorities said the woman became combative inside the ambulance. Crews pulled over to let her out, but she ran from the scene and attempted to jump over a wrought iron fence. During the attempt, her leg became impaled.

The Fresno Fire Department responded and freed her from the fence.

She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Her condition was unknown.
