ALAMEDA, Calif. — A teen found “significantly” stuck in the mud on a seashore in the rising tide set off an urgent rescue, California firefighters reported.

Police and firefighters received reports of the teen stuck near the Encinal Boat Ramp just after noon Wednesday, June 26 , the Alameda Fire Department said in a news release.

Officers and firefighters worked together to free the teenager from the mud, the agency said.

A video shows rescuers diving underwater to try to work the teen loose from the mud.

The teen was taken to a hospital for observation.

“Looks like you saved him just in time,” read one comment on the video. “How scary.”

Alameda is about a 15-mile drive east from San Francisco .
