In 2021, nationwide settlements were reached to resolve all opioids litigation brought by states and local political subdivisions against the three largest pharmaceutical distributors and a manufacturer.
Funds derived from these settlements exceed $55 billion. Opioid settlement funds are now available for EMS agencies to tap for a variety of purposes including opioid reversal drugs, prevention, treatment and other abatement strategies, overdose response equipment and ambulances and other response vehicles.
