Duty Death: Jennifer Cross - [Jackson]
End of Service: 26/10/2018
JACKSON, Ohio — A paramedic died Friday in an ambulance crash.
WSAZ reported that Portsmouth Ambulance Service paramedic Jennifer Cross, 43, and another EMS provider were on their way to a call with the ambulance’s emergency lights on when another vehicle crossed into their lane.
The ambulance collided with the other vehicle, and Cross, the EMS provider driving the ambulance and the other vehicle driver were all transported to the hospital.
Cross was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other EMS provider and the driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash is currently under investigation.
Cross’ family and friends described her as someone with a passion for helping others as both a paramedic and a nurse.
Tiffany McManis, who owns a T-shirt business, designed a fundraiser shirt that reads “Forever in our hearts, our hero, Jennifer Cross.”
McManis said over 100 shirts were sold in less than 12 hours. All proceeds will go to the Cross family.
