HAMBLEN COUNTY, Tenn. — The Morristown-Hamblen Emergency Medical Service is mourning the loss of one of its members who collapsed during an EMS call.
Paramedic Captain Todd Giles died after collapsing while treating a patient on Apr. 5, WTAE reported.
“His partner said, ‘I need another ambulance out here. Todd just went down,’” Morristown-Hamblen Emergency Medical Service Director Danny Houseright said. “Rescue was on the scene. They had the AED on the truck. They saw him collapse. They went to work and all attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.”
Houseright described Giles as a leader dedicated to service.
Giles joined the department in 1988 after serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a medical death investigator for Hamblen County.
