LODD: Ind. paramedic suffers on-duty medical emergency

Jay County EMS Paramedic Larry Nuckols has served in EMS for more than 30 years

JAY COUNTY, Ind. — Jay County EMS and neighboring first responders are grieving the loss of Paramedic Larry Nuckols who passed away while on duty on Jan. 10, WPTA reported.

“It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a great paramedic, coworker, father and friend. At approximately 8 pm on 1/10/2025, all of us heard those chilling words “Man down, CPR in progress” within our own walls,” the department posted on social media. “We deal with death in ways that most people outside of our EMS world would not and could not understand. But to apply our skills to one of our own…there are simply no words to describe our pain and anguish.”

Nuckols served over 30 years in EMS services after he retired from the U.S. Army.
