Ark. paramedic, civilian killed in ambulance crash

LAKE CITY, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Public Safety has released the names of the victims from an ambulance crash in Lake City on Aug. 9.

Janet Chapman, 67, of Blytheville, and Paramedic Mark Gibson, 56, of Paragould, were killed, KAIT reported.

Authorities reported that Chapman was driving east on Highway 18 and crossed the center lane, colliding head-on with an ambulance from Emerson Ambulance Service, driven by Cherie Gibson.

Cherie Gibson, and Phyllis Moore, were injured in the crash.

“We won’t be giving out any details until we know for sure what happened,” the ambulance service stated on social media. “We just ask that you keep the crew that was involved in your thoughts and prayers.”

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
