GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. — The family of a Somerset-Pulaski County EMS EMT who was killed in an ambulance crash has filed a lawsuit, FOX 56 reports.
EMT Chastian McWhorter, 26, was killed on April 1 after the ambulance he was in crashed into a semi-truck. Somerset-Pulaski County EMS said a patient who was being transported at the time of the crash was also killed.
In the 15-page lawsuit filed by Elizabeth Marie McWhorter, Chastian McWhorter’s wife, it is alleged that the truck driver was negligent. The lawsuit claims he failed to follow commercial vehicle regulations covering driving standards, general requirements, and essential parts and accessories needed for safe operation. It also cites non-compliance with commercial driver’s license standards, as well as the inspection, repair and maintenance of vehicles, according to the document.
The lawsuit lists Clem’s Refrigerated Foods, its owner William M. Clem, the semi-truck driver and the Kentucky League of Cities Insurance Services Association as defendants.
