MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Miami Beach Commissioners reached an agreement to send firefighters to Israel, aiming to assist the country in the aftermath of an attack by Hamas two weeks ago.
At least 13 firefighters from Miami Beach expressed their willingness to offer their assistance, CBS News Miami reported.
Officials said the effort to send the help abroad began with a call to Miami Beach Fire Department Chief Virgil Fernandez.
After confirming that the city had adequate insurance and benefits in place for firefighters undertaking overseas missions, the commissioners approved the deployment.
Miami Beach’s firefighters won’t be the only ones helping. Hatzalah South Florida has also revealed its intention to dispatch 120 paramedics to Israel.
