UPDATE (1:20 p.m. EDT):

Broward County Sherrif Gregory Tony said Captain/Flight Paramedic Terryson Jackson died in the crash. Another civilian on the ground was also pronounced dead.

WSVN reported the helicopter had an engine failure approximately two minutes after it was deployed from the Pompano Beach Airpark.

UPDATE (11:50 a.m. EDT):

Pompano Beach spokeswoman Sandra King told WPLG two crew members and two civilians who were inside the apartment building were hospitalized after the crash. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright later confirmed that all four were taken to Broward Health North and are listed in fair condition.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether anyone was killed in the crash.

POMPANO BEACH — A Broward County Sheriff’s Office helicopter crashed on Aug. 28, a few blocks from a school in Pompano Beach. Officials also said the helicopter did not hit the school.

Officials reported the crash occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the area of 1201 NW 6th Avenue, WSVN reported.

Sheriff’s office officials said three people were onboard and two people have been transported to Broward Health; their condition is unknown.

A 7SkyForce reporter stated several people on the ground were injured and transported to a North Broward Hospital.

Video from WPLG showed a structure damaged due to the crash.
