DUBLIN, Ohio — Bound Tree Medical, the Ohio-based supplier of emergency medical supplies and equipment in the pre-hospital market, today announced it has acquired Alliance Medical, Inc.
Alliance Medical (AllMed), based in Jefferson City, Missouri, is a specialty distributor of EMS products, supplies, equipment, and clothing.
Bound Tree’s acquisition of Alliance is just the latest move in its expansion of EMS products and services since partnering with Water Street Healthcare Partners, a strategic private equity firm focused exclusively in healthcare, in 2008.
In 2008, Bound Tree Medical merged with Tri-anim Health Services, Inc., a respected hospital supply company. Today, Bound Tree and Tri-anim are subsidiaries of Sarnova, Inc.
In 2009, Bound Tree acquired Blue Ridge Medical, Inc., a supplier of pharmaceuticals to the EMS market.
AllMed has been a leading regional EMS product distributor in the central Midwest for over 25 years. It was founded by Larry and Cindy Dahl. Larry Dahl once was an EMS systems administrator in Missouri, who after a change of political administrations, started an EMS supply business in 1985.
Originally based in a tiny ex-MFA gas station in Russellville, Missouri, AllMed eventually moved to Jefferson City and grew to more than 50 employees and over $20 million in annual sales. They became better known nationally in recent years as an innovator in personal safety and EMS apparel.
AllMed offered field sales and service support in more than a half-dozen Mdwestern and Southern states. They also opened one of the first retail stores to serve EMT’s and Paramedics in the country. The AllMed Store in Jefferson City has offered a complete line of EMS, Nursing, and Law Enforcement Uniforms and personal accessories.
AllMed’s established customers will probably be the first to notice an improvement as a result of the acquisition, said Andrew Love, Vice President of Marketing at Bound Tree.
“This is going to provide access to several new suppliers and a greater product offering,” Love said. “AllMed customers should expect enhanced delivery times, as Bound Tree has five warehouses around the country opposed to AllMed’s one.”
Bound Tree will also be working to establish relationships with a number of new product suppliers, Love said. In the meantime, Love stressed that both Bound Tree and AllMed customers will be able to expect business as usual.
