FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — An EMT was killed and three other people were injured in a chain-reaction crash involving six vehicles on Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale.

Miami Dade Ambulance EMT Yanaisa Pulido had stopped to check on the victims in the first crash on Feb. 11 when she was struck by a car in the second, chain-reaction crash, Local10 reported.

Pulido, 23, had completed the Hialeah Fire Cadet program in 2019, and finished EMT training and fire academy training, according to a GoFundMe created to help with funeral expenses.

Pulido’s family said she was on her way home after working a shift when she came upon the crash and stopped to help.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating both incidents.
