A Memphis firefighter and paramedic have been disciplined after posting a photo of one of their patients to Facebook.
Fire Lieutenant Maurice Tolivar snapped the cell phone picture when medics arrived to treat a 5-year-old boy injured when a wooden board fell on his head, WREG said.
A nail in the board pierced the boy’s skull when it fell on him; the photo shows the boy’s head fully wrapped in a white bandage and the wooden board sticking out the side of his head.
According to Lieutenant Wayne Cook, Public Information Officer with the Memphis Fire Department, Tolivar took the picture for training purposes.
Paramedic Charles Bullock then posted the picture to his Facebook page, in violation of Memphis Fire Department rules.
Bullock and Tolivar both received four-hour suspensions for their actions, WREG said. Bullock, however, is appealing his suspension.
The boy suffered no major injuries, according to the report.
