SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A fire captain died after being shot by an angry driver, according to officials.
AZ Central reported that Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department Captain Kyle Brayer, 34, was in a golf cart with several people when a driver began bumping the rear of it, according to Scottsdale police spokesman Sgt. Ben Holster.
Sgt. Holster said Capt. Brayer approached the driver, who shot him in the head before fleeing.
Capt. Brayer was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
The incident is currently under investigation.
“The City of Tempe lost one of our own today to an act of senseless violence,” Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell said, according to AZFamily.com. “Fire Captain Kyle Brayer was a valued member of our Fire Medical Rescue Team and my thoughts go out to his family, friends and fellow firefighters. If anyone has any information on this horrific crime, I would ask that you contact the Scottsdale Police.”
