Intro: MedaPoint, Inc. is the leading provider of purpose built, web-based billing and dispatch software solutions for the EMS market. MedaPoint’s products have revolutionized the health care industry by making efficient, state-of-the art technology affordable and accessible.

Where did your company originate from?
Our company started as AdvanceClaim, because at that time we had a single product – our billing software, named AdvanceClaim. However, as time rolled by, we started to diversify our product base, and subsequently realized that our name was no longer applicable to our business. From the ashes came our new (and current) company name – MedaPoint. We wanted a name that would solidify our presence in the medical field (Meda), but would also be actionable, something that would convey us being “on-point” (Point). Thus the name “MedaPoint” stuck, and we’ve had it ever since.

What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
Before the conception of MedaPoint, I previously owned an ePCR company. I ended up going my own way because I saw such a great need for an excellent ambulance billing software. My drive was to make something that was radically different from anything else out there, which further inspired me to spearhead the first implementation of a Web-based, fully-integrated clearinghouse for the industry.

Why do you believe your products are essential to the EMS community?
Because our products are Web-based, they don’t require a large investment. This translates to greater efficiency, and, of course, brings in more money to our clients.

What has been the biggest challenge your company has faced?
All things growth-related have culminated to present our biggest challenge. As our client base has grown, we’ve had to ensure that we don’t get overwhelmed by increased demand, but more importantly we’ve had to take steps to see to it that our growth doesn’t interfere with our ability to maintain the valued relationships we’ve built with our clients.

What do your customers like best about you and your products?
We partner with all of our clients. As such, they tend to feel supported. We also sell our products on a subscription basis, meaning that we have to prove ourselves each passing year. Our principal motivation is to see our partners succeed. In other words, we don’t just sell stuff and disappear into the abyss – we stay involved with our clients.

What is the most rewarding part of serving the EMS/paramedic community?
Seeing our partner companies succeed and continue to grow, as well as having the privilege to play an active role in their achievements, has been an ongoing source of pride and triumph throughout our company’s existence.

Is there any fun fact or trivia that you’d like to share with our users about you or your company?
Like many startups, the company was started at a coffee shop with just two executives and two developers, with a lot of lattes and late nights. Since then, MedaPoint has acquired clients as far away as Guam and Saudi Arabia.

What’s next for your company? Any upcoming new projects or initiatives?
We’ve recently released an ePCR product, AdvanceCare. As we continue to build out our Web-based platform, we’re adding analytical tools and process-improvement products to our offerings. Enhancing our partner integration with TomTom Telematics and The Toolkit Group, alongside our upcoming NEMSIS 3 certification, we now offer a full product suite of dispatch, ePCR and billing software (AdvanceOne), which allows prospective customers to use one intuitive interface, and focus on one relationship.
