MedixSafe manufactures high security electronically controlled narcotics cabinets. MedixSafe’s implementation of today’s latest access control technology puts us way ahead of any competitor. We offer dual credential, biometric and TCP/IP based narcotics safes. Our TCP/IP equipped MedixSafe units allow you to add, delete and modify users and download event history from an administrator’s desk.

1. Where did your company name originate from?

MedixSafe originated from the concept that our narcotics solutions keep your meds and your medics safe. Our various access options ensure that only authorized employees can gain entry to your valuable controlled medications.

2. What was the inspiration behind starting your company?

In 2009, ESSC was contacted by Ted Ketsoglou, fire commissioner for Jericho, N.Y. He asked us to design and build a narcotics cabinet with dual access for his department. He was unhappy with the options available on the market at this time, such as PIN only access, where anyone could watch an authorized user enter their PIN and then have access to the narcotics.

3. What is your signature product and how does it work?

Our signature product is the MS2 narcotics cabinet. This is our smallest model, so it fits well in ambulances where space is limited. The MS2 provides dual or triple authentication of users, using any combination of fingerprint, proximity card and PIN. The MS2 was developed in 2013, at the request of Coronado (Calif.) Fire Department. It has since become our most popular and highest selling model.

4. Why do you believe your products are essential to the EMS community?

The EMS community faces many challenges when it comes to securing and tracking potentially dangerous narcotic medications that are essential to patient care. MedixSafe is committed to providing reliable solutions that are easy to manage along with unmatched customer service and support. With MedixSafe, EMS managers and directors can have peace of mind that their narcotics are safe, secure and accounted for at all times.

5. What has been the biggest challenge your company has faced?

Our biggest challenge has been keeping up with substantial company growth while continuing to provide high quality products and service. Since 2012, we have grown from around 50 customers in a few states to over 500 customers in 48 states, Canada and the Middle East.

6. What makes your company unique?

Our company is unique because the satisfaction of our customers comes first. We guarantee that you will be happy with your MedixSafe product or we will refund your money. We also offer a free 30-day trial with shipping included on our three smallest sizes of narcotics cabinets and our key cabinets.

7. What do your customers like best about you and your products?

Our customers like that our products are easy to use and dependable. If anything goes wrong with your safe within the first three years after purchase, we will send you an advance replacement part or complete unit.

8. What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder community?

The most rewarding part of serving the first responder community is being able to help make this important part of their job a little bit easier. EMS providers work incredibly hard and sacrifice a lot for others. It is a privilege to be able to serve and give back to them.

9. What’s next for your company? Any upcoming projects or initiatives?

Our newest project is providing key control solutions for the EMS community, our current customers and any businesses that need to control access to important keys that are essential to their operation. Our Key Care Cabinet works similarly to our narcotics cabinets, and utilizes the same software program. The KARE (Key Access Ready Enclosure) cabinet has a built-in card reader that recognizes existing employee 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz RFID cards. It is easily connected to an existing access control system.
