LEBANON, Maine ― A Lebanon Rescue Department volunteer narrowly avoided serious injuries when a large truck slid over him Sunday afternoon during mud races in East Lebanon.
The man, who Lebanon Rescue officials would not identify citing medical privacy laws, is a three-year volunteer with the department. He suffered minor injuries at 12:57 p.m. while volunteering at a “Go Deep Mud” mud race off Carl Broggi Highway. He was taken to Goodall Hospital in Sanford and released later that day, Assistant Rescue Chief Jason Cole said in a statement.
Cole said a driver lost control of her Chevy truck during the race. While not the largest “monster truck” in the race, Cole said it was much larger than a normal truck, with roughly 35-inch wheels.
