NREMT sets new recertification record

In 2014 the NREMT recertified over 92,000 nationally certified providers and administered its 1 millionth computer-based test

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The 2014 National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) annual report details recertification and testing accomplishments.

Last year the NREMT recertified over 92,000 nationally certified providers, the most in its 44-year history. In December the NREMT administered, with its testing partner Pearson VUE, its 1 millionth computer-based test (CBT) in Clayton, Georgia. In 2014 alone, over 133,000 cognitive examinations were administered, the third most in NREMT history.

Additionally, in 2014 the NREMT renewed its agreement with Pearson VUE
though 2021. As a result of the renewal, the NREMT announced the first increases to initial certification fees in 10 years, effective 2017. Additional Pearson VUE testing sites were also activated to ensure optimized access to testing centers in urban and rural areas.

Increased discussions about implementation and operations of the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) took place in 2014. The NCCP represents the modernization of the NREMT recertification process for each certification level. The NCCP blends national, with local and individualized learning and continued professional development topics.
