COLONIE, N.Y. — Little League parents are being hailed for their quick response after they performed CPR on an 11-year-old player who went into cardiac arrest after being hit by a ball, FOX 23 Albany reports.

The New York Little Leaguer was batting during a game Monday night when he was struck by a ball in his chest and went into cardiac arrest. “That blunt force trauma to the chest literally stops the heart,” explained EMS Deputy Chief Peter Berry.

Quick-thinking parents performed CPR on the child and paramedics were able to restart his heart using a defibrillator.
