ELKHART, Ind. — Medix Ambulances, a trusted leader in emergency vehicle manufacturing, will demonstrate its commitment to quality, speed-to-market, and relationship-driven approach at FDIC International 2025, April 10-12 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Attendees visiting Booth #5487 will experience three high-performance Type I and Type III ambulances designed with the reliability, durability, and advanced features that Fire/EMS professionals depend on for life-saving operations in challenging environments.

“FDIC International represents the industry’s premier opportunity to engage directly with our customers and dealer partners,” said Scott Cummings, Director of Sales at Medix Specialty Vehicles. “The three ambulances on display showcase our unwavering commitment to delivering high-value emergency vehicles that first responders can depend on. At Medix, we prioritize strong relationships and operational efficiency, producing reliable, low-maintenance ambulances through our standardized manufacturing approach. This methodology reduces delivery times and ensures the dependability that allows EMS professionals to focus solely on what matters most—providing critical patient care in emergency situations.”

Medix’s commitment to consistent, dependable production will be showcased through three advanced models available for attendee tours: the AL 171 Type I, MSV-II 170 Type I, and Metro Express 166 Type III ambulances.

The AL 171 Type I ambulance, provided by San Juan Medical Center via New Mexico dealer partner Southwest Ambulance Sales, is the largest in the Medix fleet with industry-leading dimensions of 171″ L × 96″ W. This all-aluminum model features 74″ headroom and composite subflooring, making it ideal for both urban response scenarios and challenging rural environments.

Built on the robust Ford F-550 XLT 4×4 diesel platform, the AL 171 includes a comprehensive Hot Weather Package HVAC system featuring a front wall shelf-mounted supplemental condenser paired with 110V Danhard AC in the squad bench, ensuring optimal temperature regulation in extreme conditions. Enhanced safety features include an integrated patient module camera for improved crew safety and an upgraded Whelen M-series warning and scene lighting package with a traffic emitter for maximum visibility. Patient comfort is prioritized with interior blue lighting during transfers, while operational efficiency is maximized through lockable exterior electronics storage, the EVS Pro-4 Single Click Seatbelt System for secure yet efficient provider movement, custom paint, and graphics, and additional performance enhancements.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the MSV-II 170 Type I ambulance, provided through Salem Fire Department and Oregon dealer partner Hughes Fire Equipment. This versatile unit excels in BLS, ALS, and heavy rescue operations, featuring one of the most spacious box configurations in the Medix lineup with an impressive 155″ clearance from bulkhead cabinets to rear doors and 48″ of aisle space—critical dimensions that significantly enhance crew mobility and operational efficiency.

Powered by a high-performance diesel engine, the MSV-II 170 module on a F-450 4×4, features a strategically enhanced HVAC system with an additional front wall shelf-mounted condenser that ensures optimal module cooling in all conditions. The thoughtfully designed interior includes an integrated refrigerated drawer within the ALS cabinet, complemented by secure lockable storage cabinets for medication management. First responder safety and efficiency are prioritized through the EVS Pro-4 Single Click Seatbelt System, allowing necessary movement without compromising protection. Additional performance features include interior blue lighting for patient comfort during transport, innovative dual-access cabinets accessible from both exterior and interior positions, a SmithWorks IV Warmer for improved patient care, the industry-standard Stryker PowerLOAD System, custom agency-specific paint and graphics, and numerous operational enhancements designed specifically for emergency response scenarios.

Agencies exploring Type III solutions will find exceptional value in the Metro Express 166 Type III ambulance on display, made available through UT Health and Texas dealer partner Southwest Ambulance Sales. The Metro Express 166 delivers unmatched versatility through its modular body design and customizable floor plan configurations, making it the ideal solution for diverse emergency response environments, including private services, hospital-based systems, and municipal EMS operations.

Standard in all Medix modules, the UT Health model features high-density foam insulation for superior climate control and noise reduction, creating an optimal care environment. Its Hot Weather Package includes a roof-mounted condenser and 110V Danhard AC in the squad bench for exceptional temperature management in extreme conditions. Enhanced capabilities include increased O2 and medical air equipment, secure and easy-to-use LifeDefender Cabinetry, temperature-controlled medication storage, EVS Pro-4 Single Click Seatbelt System, custom graphics, and performance features optimized for emergency response.
