SHREWSBURY, England — Paramedics on an emergency call had the side window of their ambulance punched in as they arrived to treat a patient.
West Midlands Ambulance Service got on scene in Shrewsbury at 3:30 a.m. to treat a patient who had been assaulted. Before the paramedics exited the ambulance, two people approached the ambulance. One assailant punched the rear-side window of the ambulance so hard that it shattered.
“Thankfully my staff weren’t hurt, but they were understandably upset by the incident,” said Adrian Ball, area manager.
The paramedics left the scene and called police who have already identified the assailant.
“Ambulance staff are here to help people in an emergency,” Bell said. “Attacking our staff and vehicles is an abhorrent crime which we take an incredibly dim view of.”
