PRESS RELEASE

BELOEIL, Quebec — Demers Ambulances, a leading innovator in ambulance design, is proud to announce its best-in-class Arctic Range HVAC Package is available now in the MXP 170 Type I ambulance model. Initially launched in 2018 with the MXP 153 model, the Arctic Range was specifically designed to better serve the southern market where having a high-performance HVAC system isn’t a luxury, it’s a must. Since then, the cutting-edge climate control system has gained popularity due to its industry-leading performance. The Arctic Range is now set to enhance performance and comfort for MXP 170 customers.

The Arctic Range HVAC system is designed to cool ambulances faster, enhancing safety and patient care by ensuring optimal temperature control in critical situations. Equipped with one of the industry’s most efficient insulation packages and ECOSmart technology, the system is proven to quickly reach ideal temperatures in the most extreme environments, while also reducing overall fuel costs and CO2 emissions. Ultimately, the climate control provides more options for customers seeking exceptional speed in reaching comfortable interior temperatures.

“Patient safety and comfort are our top priorities,” said Kris Turner, U.S. Channel Development Director. “Our Arctic Range Package is a game-changer for emergency medical services operating in extreme climates. By rapidly achieving and maintaining ideal interior temperatures, we can provide a more stable and comfortable environment for patients and medical staff alike.”

The innovative HVAC system can now be integrated into the Demers MXP 170 Type 1 ambulance and is still available on the MXP 153 Type I model. The MXP 170 Arctic Range Package includes:

  • Two 30,000 Btu/h evaporators
  • Standard 95,000 Btu/h roof-mounted condenser with an optional 90,000 Btu/h front wall-mounted condenser
  • 120V: 48,000 Btu/h condenser mounted underneath
  • Independent engine-drive compressor
  • Airflow through curbside evaporator outlets and streetside ducted outlets

“Efficient climate control is vital in emergency medical services,” adds Turner. “Our new HVAC system not only enhances patient care but also supports our commitment to sustainability and innovation.”

Combined with premium R14 insulation, the Arctic Range Package ensures maximum cooling efficiency. The insulation includes high-efficiency 2" thick material used in the model and doors, insulation tape on interior beams to reduce thermal bridges and air leaks, a 1/4" thick Manninglass insulated heat shield underneath the floor, 1/2" Armaflex foam on wheel wells, and 1" thick high-efficiency urethane rigid panels on the side entry steps.
