With the current outbreak of measles in my home state, this has become a popular but scary subject. This occurred when a missionary traveled to several third world countries and contracted measles, then passed on the love to others that haven’t been vaccinated with the MMR vaccine. Now there are several cases in Texas and the medical profession is sounding alarms.
All physicians are stating that the best prevention is to be vaccinated with the MMR vaccine since it is the best way to decrease the risk of contracting them. Even if you have already had an exposure, you need to be vaccinated as soon as possible. The individuals contracting the diseases are ones who never received the vaccine, and small children and debilitated adults are the most susceptible.
In the below training video, we will review mumps, measles and rubella, identifying the virus, epidemiology, clinical signs and symptoms of each. If you have not been vaccinated for MMR, you should strongly consider doing it now.
