NEW YORK — A Queens volunteer ambulance nonprofit says it’s struggling to survive after authorities announced three former board members robbed it of more than $325,000.
The Corona Community Ambulance Corps says in a statement released Saturday it is seriously considering dissolution after discovering its funds had been misappropriated.
On Thursday, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced the arrest of three board members for stealing money from the corps’ bank accounts.
Schneiderman said some of the board members used the funds on personal expenses like trips to Disney World.
In the statement, the CCAC says it may sell its headquarters and streamline services following the scandal. It says its members are volunteers and its insurance and other costs are significant.
The nonprofit group says it’s on life support and needs community support.
