PLATTE CITY, Mo. — Would you like to be an elected official?

National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians will offer its first Political Academy during Fitch & Associates’ 16th annual Pinnacle EMS Leadership Forum in July.

“Having elected officials who understand the challenges faced by our profession is instrumental to making the changes we need for sustainability. The best way to do this is to have those officials come from within EMS,” NAEMT President Bruce Evans said in a news release.

The NAEMT 8-hour seminar will include experienced political operatives and politicians who also are EMS providers. Their topics will include:

  • Long-term goals and strategies
  • Why you should be a leader, platform elements, party affiliations and polling
  • Money — fundraising, campaign finance law, building support and asking for money
  • The everyday mechanics of running a campaign

The seminar registration fee covers lunch and a reception.
