SALT LAKE CITY — In the poem, “Deceit & I,” spoken word artist and former EMT R.J. Walker describes responding to an infant in cardiac arrest.
“But deceit and I started getting really serious back in my ambulance days when we worked together,” said Walker as he begins to describe the one-room trailer, the blue and cold baby, the child’s parents, and the explanation he gave them for the child’s death.
Walker was an EMT for five years. He is now a writer, spoken word poet and event emcee. Visit RJWalkerSpokenWord.com to learn more.
