LOS ANGELES — Netflix launched a new original short documentary about three volunteer rescue workers putting everything on the line to save civilians affected by the war in Syria. The members of the Syrian Defense Force, also known as the White Helmets, is a group of 3,000 volunteers.
“The White Helmets,” directed by Academy Award-nominated director Orlando von Einsiedel and producer Joanna Natasegara, premiered on Sept. 16. It provides a snapshot of the realities of life for Syrians who remain in the country.

The Syria Civil Defense aims to protect civilians against the dangers from hostilities or disasters. They provide search and rescue, medical services, including first aid, at the point of injury, firefighting, management of emergency shelters and more.
