SEGUIN, Texas — A 31-year-old Seguin firefighter died Friday after a lengthy battle with COVID-19, officials with the City of Seguin said in a release.
Roger Dean served as a firefighter and paramedic for the Seguin Fire Department since 2018. He passed away at a Houston hospital on Friday.
“Roger’s passing is devastating to our city organization and the Seguin Fire Department family,” Seguin City Manager Steve Parker said. “He was a wonderful employee and coworker who will be very missed.”
Dean’s body was escorted back to Seguin on Friday. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, his 8-month-old daughter, Amelia, and his parents.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
“Roger will be remembered for his kind, caring nature, and his dedication to serving this community,” Parker said. “Our prayers are with his wife, little girl, his family and friends and we know our residents join us in offering our deepest condolences.”
