CHARLESTON, S.C. — A South Carolina EMT died due to COVID-19 last week.
MedTrust EMT Keith Brown, 48, died Wednesday due to the virus, according to WCSC. Brown served in EMS for 17 years and had worked at several agencies in the Charleston area throughout his career.
Brown’s wife Petrice, who is a nurse, said her husband was always caring for others and was the “life of the party,” according to WCSC. She said he told her before his death that he believed he was exposed at work and even knew which patient he believed he contracted the virus from. She added that Brown died very soon after receiving a positive test result.
Brown is survived by two children, Keith and Peyton. Peyton Brown said she hopes to honor her father’s legacy by one day joining the medical field.
An online fundraiser has been set up to support Brown’s family. A funeral procession was held Monday in Brown’s honor.
