SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — During an award ceremony, a Seminole County man had the opportunity to meet the paramedics who saved his life.
In February, 62-year-old Don Plakon suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite facing several moments where he coded, Seminole County paramedics successfully revived Plakon while en route to the hospital, Fox 35 Orlando reported.
“This call is just another example of the caliber of our members,” Lieutenant Armando Camancho said. “Guys, thank you for your professionalism.”
The team that treated Plakon received the Seminole County Fire Department’s Lifesaving Award.
Plakon was hospitalized for 12 days and, following a complete recovery, was discharged.
“Don can now have more birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and just time with family. Congratulations,” Fire Chief Matt Kinley said.
