VPM: Reactionary Gap

Self-Defense “Standard Precautions” begins with understanding what the reactionary gap is, and establishing a solid reactionary gap, when practical. This gap consists of the distance between you and any person you and your crew encounter on an emergency call. Ideally, this “buffer zone” is at least six feet between you and any potentially violent attacker. This distance allows for sufficient reaction time to a sudden attack. When you come within six feet of any person, patient or bystander it should be a conscious decision to do so. www.AmericanCME.com
