INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis ambulance transporting a patient was part of a four-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon.
In a bystander photo taken of the incident, the ambulance appears to have collided head-on with a pickup truck.

The ambulance was transporting a gunshot victim in critical condition to the hospital, with members of the Indianapolis Fire Department on board, according to an IEMS press release.
The exact cause of the collision in under investigation, but it is believed that a crash involving three other vehicles occurred simultaneously, triggering the ambulance crash.
According to the Indy Star, the ambulance swerved to avoid a collision and crashed head-on with a pickup truck.
The patient on the initial call was transferred to another ambulance, where they were treated and transported to a hospital. The EMT, paramedic and two firefighters were in good condition at the scene. All four were taken to a medical facility to be evaluated.
