CHICAGO — A paramedic accomplished a personal goal by handling emergencies in each of the city’s ambulances.
FOX32 reported that Terry Sullivan spent decades responding to at least one call in every one of the ambulances in Chicago, and Wednesday he responded to a call in ambulance number 75.
To achieve this goal that he made for himself 20 years ago, Sullivan traded shifts with paramedics and responded to calls from more than 70 stations.
“The firehouses have all got their own personality. It depends on where you’re at. They’re all different. North side, south side, I’m a south sider so I’ll have to say the south side is my favorite place,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan said another paramedic hit the same goal a year ago.
“It’s been fun, we were in competition a little bit, going back and forth, finding out which rig you still got to go, and she retired last year,” Sullivan said.
He added that the best part about doing this is the people he got to work with, as well as providing emergency help to residents.
“Oh it’s a lot of fun. When you’re helping people and they’re at their lowest moment, it’s a pretty good experience. You know, you really feel good about what you’re doing,” Sullivan said.
