Responders remove patient from ambulance just before it erupts in flames

BARABOO, Wis. — An EMS crew evacuated a patient from a burning ambulance just before it burst into flames.

WKOW reported that a Tomah Area Ambulance Service crew was transporting a patient in emergency mode when a fire broke out underneath the rig.

When police responded to a call about the fire, the crew was pulled over and in the process of evacuating the ambulance.

Shortly after the patient and crew got out of the rig, the ambulance burst into flames.

Another ambulance transported the patient to the hospital, and another person was also hospitalized for smoke inhalation as a result of the fire.

No other details have been released.
