BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. — Two Bullitt County EMS providers and their patient were recovering in a hospital Wednesday after a semitruck crashed into the back of the ambulance they were in on Interstate 65.

The two providers had just loaded the patient, who was injured in a separate accident, into the ambulance when the semi struck the back of the vehicle.

The three were trapped briefly, but firefighters extricated them.

The semi driver was not injured in the crash, WLKY reported.

“BCEMS is immensely grateful for the outpouring of love, concern, and prayers. We have received more offers of assistance than we can possibly list,” the agency posted on Facebook. “Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. And please ... use this as a reminder to Slow Down and Move Over, and keep emergency lanes clear when you approach an accident.”
