DUBUQUE, Iowa — Two EMS providers and their patient were hurt in a four-vehicle crash involving an ambulance.

Telegraph Herald reported that the Paramount Ambulance crew was transporting a patient with the rig’s lights and sirens activated when the ambulance went through a red light, according to a Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department report.

The report said EMS provider Toni Blint, who was driving the ambulance, pulled into the path of two vehicles and collided with both of them.

The impact of the crash pushed one of the vehicles into another vehicle, according to police.

Blint and her colleague, Travis Hartbecke, were both injured in the crash, as well as their patient, Debbie Mootz.

The drivers of the other vehicles were also injured, as well as one passenger.

Everyone who was hurt in the crash was transported to the hospital. Police said the total damage for all of the vehicles involved was estimated at $80,000.

Blint was cited with failure to obey a traffic-control device.
