UKRAINE — A Ukrainian soccer player had a brush with death on Saturday when he reportedly swallowed his own tongue after being knocked out in a violent first-half collision.
Dynamo Kiev captain Oleh Husyev was left unconscious after he was inadvertently kneed in the head by Dnipro goalkeeper Denis Boyko during an aerial battle inside the penalty area.
When Husyev hit the ground, a member of the opposing team sensed trouble before running over and reaching into the 30-year-old’s mouth to clear his airway.
