This week’s Photo of the Week comes from Mercy Health — Life Flight in Ohio, which recently launched its first on-board blood program allowing for in-flight transfusions. Units of O-negative blood will now be carried on every flight, and Life Flight crews have already administered blood several times in the first few weeks of the program.

“For those with a critical injury or medical condition, blood can make the difference between life and death,” said Merch Health — Life Flight Network Medical Director Bill Krebs, DO, in a statement. “The ability to bring blood to the patient is a game-changing treatment for patients in our region.”
