CLEVELAND — A woman called 911 to request a Cleveland ambulance so she could charge her phone, according to 911 audio recently obtained by FOX 8. The unusual request followed recent severe weather and power outages.

During the call with dispatchers in early August, the woman mentioned that she did have medical issues but she also needed to charge her phone. An ambulance arrived within 3 minutes, FOX8 reported.

In the recording, the dispatcher asks, “Why do you need to go to the hospital, Ma’am?”

The woman replies, “Because the police didn’t come to get me...let me charge my phone. Take me back home. I need to charge my phone.”

The dispatcher asks, “You want an ambulance to go to the hospital just to charge your phone?” and the woman responds, “To charge the phone, yes.”

The EMS crew spent nearly an hour at the scene and the woman refused transport to the hospital.
