HONOLULU — A Hawaii Fire Department ambulance caught fire Monday on the Big Island while transporting a patient, KHON2 reported.
“The engine started smoking, and they pulled over. And quickly, the engine caught on fire,” Chief Kazuo Todd of the Hawaii Fire Department said. “Luckily, they were able to extricate the patient and grab their equipment and move it off the rig.”
A fire crew put out the fire, and another ambulance crew transported the patient.
